Eli Iserbyt opens up tab at World Cup with dominant win in Waterloo

Eli Iserbyt has conquered the World Cup in the 2021-2022 season, and has began building another attempt to win the classification, as he rode the Pauwels Sauzen - Bingoal jersey into the top step of the podium in Waterloo.

The fast course allowed for slipstreaming, however the defending champion's intentions were clear from the start, taking up the lead and forcing the pace. In the second lap he managed to get a gap over Toon Vandebosch, and it was up to Lars van der Haar to take up the chase as the gap grew to around 15 seconds.

In the third lap Laurens Sweeck attacked off the chasing group and cut the lead in half, whilst the rest of the field lost time, however he couldn't close the gap entirely. Sweeck remained not too distant, but the gap slowly began to rise back up again, with van der Haart, Vantourenhout and Thibau Nys left fighting for the third spot.

Sweeck held on for second place 32 seconds behind, whilst Lars van der Haar sprinted for third place ahead of Vanthourenhout.
