Rúben Silva is the editor for CyclingUpToDate and is in charge of developing the strategies for the website's content, as well as being a writer. In the past he's written for his own blog 'Echelons' and Ciclismo Internacional. He has also been a part of the development of the following websites: CiclismoAlDia (Spanish), CiclismoAtual (Portuguese), WielrennenUpToDate (Dutch) and RadsportAktuell (German). Having background studies in Geography, Rúben has spent a lot of his university years writing content on cycling. Initially previews, but also interviews and building connections within the community. He has written previews for Ciclismo Internacional in 2022 and in January of the same year he began working for CyclingUpToDate. Created in January 2022, Rúben was the sole writer for the website initially, but currently only one piece of a puzzle that he has helped creating, as the site became one of the most read English news outlets in the space of year and a half. Rúben comes from the city of Vila Nova de Gaia, Portugal. He is a keen cycling fan since his young years and raced competitively for a team on the road and track as Junior; but ever since 14 years of age riding and competing mostly in Mountain Biking events. He has also raced Cyclocross in the past. It was only after he gave up on the dream of being a pro cyclist that he realized he had talents which he could use elsewhere in the sport. Author of the website's previews; the 'WheelWatch' and 'Pedal Punditry' series where he analysis races in-depth and also provides his opinions on some of the peloton's most relevant topics.
