Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe has finally completed their 2026 lineup. After firing Oier Lazkano, the German team still had two spots left to fill, and the team signed Spaniard Haimar Etxeberria, bought from Equipo Kern Pharma; and has now confirmed the signing of
Arne Marit from
intermarché - Wanty.
“Arne is a rider who can make an immediate impact in a variety of race situations. His natural speed, race instinct, and reliability across a full season make him a valuable addition to our sprint and classics group," team manager Zak Dempster said in a
press release. "Importantly, he is also a rider with clear development potential – and we are confident we can take the next step together. We’re very happy to welcome him to the team.”
This transfer does not come as a surprise, rather a confirmation of a rumour that had been ongoing for many weeks in the peloton. Intermarché - Wanty is merging with Lotto and so the contract that were valid for the Belgian team are now no longer the case, legally speaking. Biniam Girmay has departed towards NSN Pro Cycling and
Marit's signing with Red Bull was already given as a certain back in early November. However, it was confirmed this Thursday, where he becomes rider number 30 for the team. A quality sprinter, he should have his freedom to lead in some races, but can also potentially become a leadout man for the likes of Jordi Meeus and Dannny van poppel who will have prominent roles next season.
