Davide Bramati has been at the helm of Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl Team for several years, since 2006 more precisely. With this taken into account it came as a big surprise to see in a recent report that he'd be joining INEOS Grenadiers, but the Italian has since corrected the rumour.
"You will have seen in the media that there are some rumours around my future," Bramati said in an Instagram post. "I have known Patrick Lefevere for a long time and he has backed me as both a rider and as a young sports director, and we have remained very loyal to each other for a long time. I am also part of the family that we call the Wolfpack. We have made so memories together, even more so in recent months, and I want to make many more with them," he confirmed.
Having confirmed that he will stay with the Belgian team, it leads INEOS Grenadiers to still have two DS spots to fill within the team, as three of their convoy leaders will leave the team at the end of the season, and former team rider Ian Stannard is coming in where he is expected to have a meaningful role in the team's classics team.
"I am flattered that my name has been mentioned in these stories, but my heart is with Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl, where I will stay, and I am looking forward to a successful future," Bramati concluded. He was at the car for Remco Evenepoel's win at the Vuelta a Espana, where he is expected to keep having a very important guiding role.
