Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale are arranging their plans for the 2026 season and today already, they have unveiled what awaits youngster Paul Seixas this spring. The Frenchman will race a packed spring schedule and a Giro d'Italia presence is very unlikely. Simultaneously, we learn that Felix Gall is very likely to aim for a GC result at the Corsa Rosa for the first time in his career.
"Being a top support rider is absolutely my passion. I can give 100 percent in that role, and I think it's just what I'm good at," the Austrian shared with Radsport News. “I was thrilled to be back in top form for the Tour. It was a shame that the two weeks of support for Enric didn't pay off".
Mülhberger had his final year with Movistar in 2025, riding to some strong results such as a 16th at the Criterium du Dauphiné and 18th at the Tour de France, showing that the Austrian continues to perform at a high level, but found himself as a domestique with Enric Mas who abandoned the Tour injured.
It was a good time. The first year was unfortunately very bad due to illness and injuries. Things just didn't get off the ground. But they always gave me fantastic support". Mühlberger spent five seasons with the Spanish team, and has now joined Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale, who has had a budget boost, where he will join compatriot Felix Gall in the mountain races. The 31-year old is a dedicated domestique and now finds a new leader in the rider that is Austria's top representative in the current peloton.

The main goal of his career continues to be a stage at the Tour de France: “That will always be the ultimate race for me. Normally, my entire calendar revolves around the Tour. Being there every year is always breathtaking. And a Tour de France stage win is still within reach, even though it's getting closer and closer and more difficult. I need more luck than some others; I simply need that perfect day,”
That can happen still, and is certainly within reach of the Austrian, specially with brand new motivation joining the French team, who should take the step up in 2026 with the signing of several leaders and the rise of Paul Seixas. "There are still a few things I can tweak, and I hope that next year I can step it up a notch and show what I'm capable of".
“I simply think I can take another step forward at Decathlon. I believe there’s a bit more of a push here and greater team spirit to always get the best out of everyone. I missed that a bit at Movistar... New energy, new training stimulus, and new coach.”

Teaming up with Gall

Part of that will be to be part of Gall's block. Gall was fifth at the 2025 Tour de France, a career-best result, and was also eighth at the Vuelta a España, result of a few bad days in the final week where he accused the fatigue of the tough end to the season - that also included a second place at the Tour de Suisse.
"We'll aim for our first peak performance earlier, probably around Tirreno-Adriatico and the Vuelta a Catalunya, then go to a training camp, and then on to the Giro," he reveals. “He's a really good friend of mine. I get along great with him and am, of course, incredibly happy that I'm now riding on the same team as him".
Not only is he teaming up with Gall, but also training with him, as the two now reside in Salzburg. “That makes everything even easier. We can train together, do things together like going out to eat, and talk about personal matters. I think that can only strengthen our bond".
