- really? I watched a team that pulled del Toro back because wanted Ayuso captain (stage 11, del Toro could easily catch up Carapaz, but stayed back helping Ayuso, stage 13, Km Red Bull, del Toro stopped to allow Ayuso won seconds). This version of "Ayuso victim" make me laugh. He is arrogant, selfish, never pull for others, he thinks is Merckx... no, he is not. I hope this Giro helps him to mature and give him a dose of reality.
- "Gemini" was unsure but "Siri" told me Carapaz. 😊
- And maybe he struggles to maintain a competitive weight. In cycling it's a major disadvantage.
- The way the team puts him in lots of races doesnt help either
- If he was so concerned, he should have patted Ayuso himself. UAE were busy with Del toro's lead
- If Pogi retires tomorrow he will already go down as “one of the greatest”. Another five years at his current level and we can likely call him greatest ever even though he won’t equal Merckx for sheer number of wins
- In modern cycling, it's debatable if Merckx would have even won more than a few grand tours, I think what we are seeing today with Tadej is very special. It's also cool that we have a guy like Jonas who is very close to Tadej in his abilities, so they can push each other, I'm awaiting yet another Tour with these guys, it's going to be great!
- Just merge them. Problem solved : )
- Us old folks can't do extreme sport like the youngsters anymore. RIP.
- The mood was very different a week ago. UAE pulled him back at the expense of Del Toro's lead. If he couldn't pull ahead, the fault doesn't lie with the team. Is it his fault then? Not so, he crashed and couldn't recover. There is a very, very slim chance for him to win a GT even if he rides for another team if Pogacar is riding (barring accident).
Anyway, he isn't going anywhere. UAE has a golden cage for him until the end of 2028. Good luck finding a team with financial prowess to pry him from his UAE contract.
