Report suggests Isaac Del Toro has tested positive for Covid-19 but remains at Vuelta a Espana

Covid-19 is moving through the Vuelta a España peloton, that is a fact. Laurens de Plus, Harold Martín López and most notably João Almeida have withdrew from the race as a result of it and Almeida's teammate Isaac Del Toro is reportedly also ill but remains in competition.

This is reported by ESPN, on the ground at the Vuelta. The team has already lost it's leader Almeida but with a strong raid in the mountains, Adam Yates managed to jump back into GC contention and provide the team with chances of winning the race once again.

On stage 8, the Portuguese rider raced under Covid, and only abandoned the next morning. This is the same scenario as Juan Ayuso at the Tour de France, who didn't initially want to abandon the race but found himself physically unable to continue.

Del Toro, whilst not confirmed, could be under an infection as well. The 20-year old was one of the many GC contenders up until stage 9 - the day Almeida abandoned - where he also had a disastrous day and fell out of GC contention. If he is indeed to be infected and goes on to finish the race it would not be unheard of, as Geraint Thomas did the exact same over the past Tour de France.
