Jumbo-Visma & Soudal - Quick-Step in discussion to merge and form 'SuperTeam'

Could a bit of monumental cycling history be about to play out? Jumbo-Visma and Soudal - Quick-Step, two of the most successful teams of the modern era could be on the verge of merging.
According to a report by Wielerflits, various sources have revealed that a deal being struck between the two teams is very close to being finalised. This deal would see Jumbo-Visma's Richard Plugge and Merijn Zeeman as CEO and Head Coach with Soudal - Quick-Step's Patrick Lefevere on the board.
It is believed this new 'SuperTeam' will go under the name Visma-Soudal or Soudal-Visma and will likely have a more than big enough budget to continue competing at the very top level of World Tour cycling.
Jumbo-Visma currently employs 27 riders and with Soudal Quick-Step having 23 riders under contract for 2024 it remains to be seen how all this playing out will affect the riders involved. With the likes of Primoz Roglic, Jonas Vingegaard, Sepp Kuss and Remco Evenepoel all on the same team, their Grand Tour domiance will surely only continue.

- Why would you expect cycling to be different than any other sport? World Tour riders pass tests in and out of competition, so the playing field is as level as can be found in any high level competition.
