Adam Yates has taken the title at the
Deutschland Tour, a very important title for the Briton who was yet to take a win this season until make it into the German race.
"Today was a super tough day, but the team rode amazingly. It was a super dangerous break, which we tried to control in the beginning, but everybody wanted to be in the break so we had to pull hard," Yates said at the end of the day. After winning the queen stage on the penultimate day of racing, Yates has raised his arms in glory for the first time since the Volta a Catalunya 2021, and on the final hilly day into Stuttgart he kept the lead safe.
“The guys did an amazing job all the way to the finish, I didn’t really touch the wind until the final," Yates described. INEOS controlled the race throughout the day, and the Briton had the legs to follow the moves towards the end, and managed to arrive in the GC group which saw Pello Bilbao take a win in the final sprint.
"I couldn’t be more happy or to have asked for any more. “It means so much as I had so much bad luck this season, but for the team to ride for me the way they did today - they had so much confidence in me, which really means a lot," Yates shared. "I'm super happy, now onto the rest of the season".
