After they achieved an incredible result on the opening day, finishing with the first three riders over the line, Jumbo-Visma have now replicated it in the race's time-trial. Wout van Aert won Paris-Nice's individual challenge and moved into the race lead in sight of the mountains.
The 13.4 kilometer route was prone for surprises with it's hilly and explosive course. Significant gaps were created as expected ahead of the mountains, from the start strong times were expected, as Thomas de Gendt saw his time beaten by early time-setter Rohan Dennis who was set for the stage win quite possibly.
As the afternoon progressed further strong times such as the ones by Ethan Hayter, Stefan Küng and Stefan Bissegger were unable to get the better of the Australian. The fight for the stage ended up coming down, once again, to the Jumbo-Visma riders who impressively took another complete round-up of the podium. As the final riders came to the line, Primoz Roglic took four seconds over Dennis, and right after Wout van Aert stormed through to remove yet another two seconds off the Slovenian's time and move into the yellow jersey.
The Dutch team have put in another big dig on the general classification, although riders like Simon Yates, Aleksandr Vlasov and Daniel Martínez put in very strong times aswell.
