From the 6th to 13th of March the first European stage-race,
Paris-Nice, of the season will be on the road in France. From the Paris area to Nice, the race to the sun, always a race with illustrious startlists as many look to get big wins early in their season.
The total
prize money for the race comes in at a total of €144.300 (euros). This will be spread across most or all teams taking into consideration the classifications of their riders at the end of the race, most importantly in the overall classification but also in the secondary ones. It will also take into consideration the stage winners and the riders who lead each classification every day.
Paris-Nice is a World Tour race so it falls far up the standings in terms of what the riders and teams receive upon getting strong results in the race. Of the total prize money, €28,000 (19.4%) goes to the final race podium, with the race winner stacking on €16,000 which is by far the most compensated result of the race financially.
€2,000 are given to the points and mountain classification winners, whilst the teams classification winners take €1,200 and the youth takes €800. Of course, daily success also benefits the teams, specially the lower levels quite a lot, as a single stage win can bring at leat €4,000 in this race.
