Oetingen received the women's peloton today as a wide array of World Tour teams looked to gather some more strong results ahead of the main classics period. Team DSM's Lorena Wiebes has had a quiet start to the season but has opened her tally today, taking her first win since the Ronde van Drenthe of last year.
The 130-kilometer long race saw a hilly circuit around the town in which the name gets it's name, but everything came back together in the end for a reduced bunch sprint in which the Dutch was the woman to beat. Sure enough she fulfilled her responsibility to take the win, with quite a hefty advantage in the sprint ahead of Italian duo Chiara Consonni (Valcar - Travel & Service) and Maria Giulia Confalonieri (Ceratizit-WNT Pro Cycling) who completed the podium.
