It has been confirmed that the 63rd edition of the Itzulia will feature a spectacular start from the Gipuzkoan town of Irun in 2024. This news has generated great expectation among fans, as it marks the return of Irun as the starting point of the race after 18 years.
The official presentation event took place on September 28 and unveiled key details about the start of the Itzulia 2024. The race will start with an urban time trial of approximately 10 kilometers in the streets of Irun, promising an exciting battle against the clock from day one. The second stage, meanwhile, will also start from Irun, although it will leave the territory of Guipuzcoa to continue the competition.
The city of Irun has been an important point in the history of the Itzulia, having previously hosted 2 starts, 1 finish, 4 stage starts and 3 finishes. The first time the race visited this border town in the Bidasoa region was in 1975, marking the beginning of a special relationship between Irun and cycling. In 2006, the Itzulia started and finished in Irun, and that stage in line was won by the outstanding Spanish cyclist Alejandro Valverde.

For this occasion, in a big way with a first stage that will take place entirely through our city".

He added: "Irun is committed to cycling and will host the first stage, a time trial through the city, and the start of the second stage".
