"Maybe we shouldn’t joke about serious stuff on Watts Occurring anymore?" - Geraint Thomas regrets viral 'Jumbo hates Remco and Remco hates Jumbo' comment

A seemingly throwaway comment made by Geraint Thomas on his and INEOS Grenadiers teammate Luke Rowe's podcast Watts Occurring went viral yesterday, leaving the Welshman with a tinge of regret.

"Jumbo hates Remco and Remco hates Jumbo, that's not going to work, is it?" Thomas said on the possibility of the much talked about Jumbo-Visma and Soudal - Quick-Step merger when asked about it by Rowe on the podcast. "You should here what Roglic says about Remco," he added.

After seeing his comments do the rounds though, the former Tour de France winner who went head to head with the likes of Primoz Roglic and Remco Evenepoel at both the Giro d'Italia and the Vuelta a Espana this year has clarified his comments via a post to his official X (Twitter) account.
