The 2025
Giro d'Italia is now under way and in the peloton of 184 riders there are a few who stand out for whichever reason. Within these are plenty riders making their first Grand Tour appearance and others are already veterans with almost 20 years of pro racing under their belt. We take a look at the youngest and oldest at the start of the Corsa Rosa.
At the start in Albania, the youngest rider in the race was
Paul Magnier, although surprisingly at the age of 21 - slightly older than the debutants seen at recent Grand Tours. It is only by a matter of days however, as there are five other riders at the age of 21 in the race:
Joshua Tarling, Isaac del Toro, Giulio Pellizzari, Alessandro Pinarello and Darren Rafferty. Interestingly, all four youngest riders will have key roles in the race either being big candidates for stage wins or supporting the two big candidates for the overall win.
On the side of the most experienced riders, it is
Jakob Fuglsang who comes in with 40 years of age, coming in as a valuable right-hand man for Derek Gee who takes over the lead of Israel - Premier Tech. The second oldest rider in the race interestingly is also part of the Israeli team:
Simon Clarke.
