Over the last few weeks it has been essentially confirmed that Dylan Teuns will no re-sign with Bahrain - Victorious, and after his impressive win at Flèche Wallone - adding to a stage win at the Tour de Romandie - has sparked the interest of several teams, making the Belgian one of the most desirable riders for the time being in the peloton.
With summer just around the corner, negotiations are underway already for some riders in the peloton, whilst others look towards the horizon and a new challenge. Dylan Teuns represents the latter, as he told RIDE magazine: "I don't have a real deadline, but I don't want to wait too long either. Let's just say I want certainty at the last when the Tour de France starts. So that I don't have to worry anymore during the Tour. I am not telling you anything new when I say that the better riders have almost all signed by then," he said.
Despite this, he admits that the relation with Bahrain has not taken a dark turn. Teuns is scheduled to ride the Tour de France, where he will be eyeing a third career stage win - besides supporting Jack Haig, Gino Mäder and Damiano Caruso who will be riding for the overall classification if the plan goes on.
“I'm having a good time there, but the team management doesn't seem rushed to come up with a solid proposal themselves. That's why I'm keeping all other options open," Teuns added.
His manager Guillaume Reynders has also made the point clear: “He really doesn't want to take it overnight and he's in no rush. The goal is the end of June, but for the same money, the talks are gaining momentum and there will be white smoke earlier. Which teams are involved? In any case, a number of real top teams," he concluded.
