Final startlist GP de Montreal 2026 - Riders: Remco Evenepoel, Isaac del Toro, Tom Pidcock, Paul Seixas, Brandon McNulty and more
Cycling
The Grand Prix Cycliste de Montreal takes place on Sunday, 13 September 2026, with one of the strongest one-day fields of the autumn heading to Mont Royal for the second half of Canada's WorldTour double-header.
Montreal has long been the more attritional of the two Canadian races, but this year's edition carries an extra layer of importance.
The World Championships return to the city later in September, meaning many of the riders targeting the rainbow jersey will get a valuable race-speed look at terrain closely related to the decisive part of the Worlds course

McNulty returns to defend as Worlds contenders gather in Montreal
One of the clearest names to watch is Brandon McNulty, who returns as defending champion after leading home a UAE one-two in 2025. His team arrives with extraordinary depth again, with Isaac del Toro, Adam Yates, Jhonatan Narvaez, Tim Wellens, Florian Vermeersch and Felix Grossschartner all also included.
The race also provides another major step towards the World Championships for Remco Evenepoel. Montreal's repeated climbing and selective nature make it a much more revealing test than a straightforward warm-up, and Red Bull – BORA – hansgrohe can also call on Maxim Van Gils should the race develop into a more explosive finale.
For Tom Pidcock, the circuit looks particularly inviting. The Pinarello Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team leader has the climbing and acceleration needed for a race that often breaks down through repeated attacks rather than one decisive ascent.

Paul Seixas is another rider whose presence carries obvious interest. The Frenchman has been one of the breakthrough names of 2026, and Montreal offers a stern one-day examination ahead of his next major objectives. Decathlon CMA CGM Team also bring Tiesj Benoot and Paul Lapeira.
Lidl-Trek have no shortage of options either. Quinn Simmons returns after finishing third here in 2025, while Juan Ayuso, Giulio Ciccone and Derek Gee-West give the team several different ways to approach a hard race.
Home attention will naturally fall on Michael Woods, who lines up for the Canadian national team and has the climbing pedigree to make an impact if the race becomes especially selective.
There is depth well beyond the most obvious favourites too, with Matteo Jorgenson, Ben Healy, Marc Hirschi, Alberto Bettiol, Lennert Van Eetvelt, Thymen Arensman, Magnus Sheffield, Sergio Higuita, Michal Kwiatkowski, Mauro Schmid and Michael Matthews all included in a high-class field.

- I guess if there wasn't/isn't a grassroots culture that he sprang from or was fostered during his career, then he's just someone who was lucky to get to where he is despite where he's from, rather than because of it. Plus, is cycling popular in Slovakia overall? Sometimes you get these folks who do a sport that no-one at home cares about back home so they are sort of successful in obscurity.wrsty01-10-2026
- Wout was good, and he was good on Sunday trying to drag Remco back, but I watched the olympics. Remco seemed exception on a course perfect for him, and MVDP was a step behind.mij30-09-2026
- Why would Del Toro help pull back McNulty just to be out sprinted by Matthews, VDP, Simmons... He fired his bullets on his terrain and couldn't get away. Only way he was going to have a chance is in a 2 or 3 up sprintbreckvelo30-09-2026
- Hey Lance, Go away in a reproductive manner!Lobz7730-09-2026
- Context matters. From the way Onley blew up, it was clear that he knew he was struggling and probably told Pidcock that. Simmons finished 4th. Of course, Pidcock could have and should've taken the gamble
Rafionain-Glas30-09-2026 - Great story. Surprises me though that Sagan’s amazing career hasn’t produced more of a legacy of young Slovak talent.Lozza30-09-2026
- Del Toro did a LOT of work in that group, riding on the front and pulling it along. By the time McNulty attacked I should think he was mostly cooked!Lozza30-09-2026
- I don’t entirely agree with this @RidesHills. Whilst I can entertain what you’re arguing, writing off IDT’s inability to follow Pidcock purely as IDT being "gassed" ignores the complex tactical chess match happening on the road. IDT’s body language, in the final kms, showed plenty of hesitation, tactical marking, and looking around. With the addition of the WC pitting teammates against each other, there were several moments that indicated his behaviour was a calculated refusal to destroy McNulty’s, and by that extension, UAE’s chances of maintaining their hold on the rainbow stripes. We know IDT had the ability to win that race, I stand by the belief that he chose not to chase after his team mate. Whilst I was frustrated watching it… I can respect it.anonymouscyclist30-09-2026
- I guess the president is very happy to see one American win in Canada. Leave the president and politicians aside the sports. Was a great victory from a very smart move in the right moment. Quick Step won a lot of classics like this. Having numbers. Del Toro also played some part. Going to blame him? Thats a great friend. Also don't forget McNulty last time in Montreal. He was there with Pogacar. When big guns control each other others can win. Well done McNulty.
PAULO30-09-2026 - Not sure why you are hating on Americans but looking at cycling there are many more Europeans that cheated in cycling than Americans. Looking at the TdF's that Armstrong won, the top 5 -10 in all those doped and weren't Americans.GB30-09-2026
