Team
Jumbo-Visma are objectively the dominant team at the Critérium du Dauphiné up until now, having had
Wout van Aert win a stage, finish second twice and carry the yellow jersey, but above all the Dutch team have been working and taking responsibilities from the peloton since day one.
Additionally, besides having the Belgian in the lead of the race, both
Primoz Roglic and
Jonas Vingegaard find themselves in very advantageous positions in the overall classification. “This was a very important measuring moment towards the
Tour de France. This is the last time trial the boys will ride before the Tour. So this was the test for us before the opening time trial in Copenhagen.
The team is ambitioning victory at the Tour de France and won't settle for any less. In the bigger picture, Heijboer commented: “It’s hard to say in percentages, but we certainly haven’t done everything necessary in the training build for the Tour de France." Instead, he still suggests that despite the results, the French stage-race is in preparation for the big goal this summer: " We use the Dauphiné and the weeks in Tignes for that. We are certainly confident that they can grow, which makes these achievements very hopeful.”
At the start of stage five, where Wout van Aert is once again the main favourite for the stage win, the team will have responsibility duties due to their position in the overall classification. Primoz Roglic and Jonas Vingegaard are sitting third and fourth in the GC and will be in striking position when the weekend arrives.
