Primoz Roglic has started his season at
Tirreno-Adriatico, a surprise last-minute change where he will be testing his form after some months of training. The early sighs were good, he will have good tests in the mountainous stages of the race.
“It's nice to be back. After an altitude camp, I felt I was good enough to race again. I did a big block of training, so I’m ready to start racing," Roglic said at the start of stage 3. "After this race, we’ll see what we need to work on to improve to be better.”
Initially the Slovenian was set to start his season at the Volta a Catalunya. Over the winter he took several months off the bike to recover from his Vuelta a Espana injuries and a shoulder operation, but the training has gone well and he finished 12th in the opening time-trial of the race. Successfully however, it seems that he is not feeling the pressure, with Tiesj Benoot and Wilco Kelderman both eyeing the overall classification.
“I don’t want pressure from a GC perspective. That’s not the main goal here. The goal is to start racing again and to be back in the peloton," he says. There will be three hilly and mountainous stages where he will be put to the test against many of the world's best climbers and classics riders. "I’ll see if I can ride with the best and go with them. We’ll try to do the best we can as a team here.”
