Vuelta a Espana reveals the four teams that receive wildcards for 2023

Vuelta a Espana organizers have revealed today the four teams that will be given wildcards for the 2023 edition, the final Grand Tour of the season.

The Spanish Grand Tour will have both ProTeams that have scored the most UCI points last year. Lotto Dstny and TotalEnergies have accepted to participate in the Spanish Grand Tour, whilst that was not the case for the Giro d'Italia. Arnaud De Lie and Peter Sagan would hence be within a chance of racing the Vuelta.

With four Spanish teams left at Pro Team level only two could be chosen. Those were Burgos - BH and Caja Rural - Seguros RGA. Two teams that have over the last few years been traditional figures in the race.

Equipo Kern Pharma and Euskaltel - Euskadi have been left out of the wildcards for their home race. The start will be on the 26th of August in Barcelona and the race will end in the capital Madrid on the 17th of September, with a route that features summit finishes such as the Col du Tourmalet and the Alto de l'Angliru.
