Egan Bernal close to racing watts in Andorran training ride

Egan Bernal has been on a training camp in Andorra for several weeks alongside several of his INEOS Grenadiers teammates, and has shared the details of some rides on Strava, where an analysis of his power data reveals a return to a relatively competitive level.

On the 22nd of July Bernal shared a ~5 hour ride with over 3000 meters of climbing in Andorra, and has done interval training in some climbs - this one below being the Col de Rabassa. He has shared long rides, proving aswell that he's getting serious training volume, with a total of 21 hours piled up on the five rides he shared this past week.

He completed a 25-minute effort with 8 kilometers at 6.8% up the ascent, averaging 321 watts throughout this time- whilst clearly doing interval training, perhaps below of his current limit. According to ProCyclingStats Bernal weighs 60Kg - a value that is possibly not fully accurate - but if the math is to be made, this would have him at 5.35W/Kg for 25 minutes.

Although far from a top value, it shows the Colombian is back at a rhythm that would surely allow him to return to the peloton, averaging 19.4Km/h for this segment of the climb. Over the coming weeks, it is likely that his power numbers will reveal further improvements.
