Demi Vollering finished eighth in the challenging third stage of the Tour de France Femmes. She was involved in a crash.
Fifteen kilometers before the finish line, she slipped and fell during a turn.“I felt really good, so I was going for it. It was a bit sad that that needed to happen,” said Vollering. She went to explain how it happened.“It was so slippery. It was almost like I was back on the ice track again. I thought I took it safe, I was not too fast for my feeling, but I don’t know. I just slipped.”
Although she was able to get back on her bike, she lost some crucial time.“The legs were good, but that I fell and had to chase was very unfortunate. I wasted a lot of energy, and of course, you don't want that. It feels a bit like shit now, I hope I'll have more luck in the next few days," concluded Vollering. She currently holds 7th position in GC, 57 seconds behind overall leader Marianne Vos.
