David de la Cruz will be one of the important men for the Astana Qazaqstan Team at both the next Tour de France and now at the Criterium du Dauphiné and he assures that his legs are getting better day by day:
"Improving day by day, facing the Tour de France I think I'm doing a good job and I hope to leave here with a slightly better point of form than I arrived to face the Tour with more guarantees."
The Catalan rider was asked if the sixth stage, one that includes a summit finish, from Nantua to Crest-Voland could be well adapted to his characteristics to try to achieve a partial victory. "Starting today, both today and tomorrow and Sunday are good opportunities on a personal level that I will have to take advantage of," he says. "Today is the first day that I have a good opportunity to fight for a stage victory and, if not well, this weekend there will be more opportunities, but the idea is to leave here in better shape and, above all, satisfied with the work done."
"I think it is a complicated stage, with a fast start, the first 40 km will go very fast and from there it is very hard, it can be difficult for the Jumbo to control," continues de la Cruz. "If they are not interested in hunting we will try to get in or I or another teammate to get a good result."
