🇫🇷 #Dauphiné 💛💛
Jonas Vingegaard took a brilliant victory on stage 5 of the Critérium du Dauphiné, moving into the overall lead of the race in the process. Afterwards however, none of that was on his mind.
“My thoughts are there,” said Vingegaard, referencing the terror attack in Annecy that saw a number of children stabbed by a knife-wielding attacker in a French park earlier today. The Jumbo-Visma leader was unable to hold back the tears in his post-stage interview.
“I think about all families," continued an emotional Vingegaard. “I didn't really want to attack, but when Carapaz attacked I had to react. I am happy with my victory, but cycling is not important right now.”
Nevertheless, Vingegaard now holds a clear lead in the general classification, 1:10 ahead of second-placed rider, Ben O'Connor.
