"Certain things that are not right within the team" - Lance Armstrong critical of Primoz Roglic's abandon from Tour de France

Some voices in the backstage of the peloton were critical of Primoz Roglic's abandon from the Tour de France before the start of stage 15. Lance Armstrong, now seen as a pundit in the USA, has shared his line of thought in the subject.

“The official explanation of his team was that he wants to take the time to recover from his injuries. For the good listener: to prepare for the Vuelta. Even if your shoulder hurts a little, you're trying to stay on track," Armstrong said in his podcast 'The Move'. "The team just can't force him to stay. If the rider in question says 'no', that's no. Of course we are not in the Jumbo-Visma team bus, but this story is not good. I would have been shocked if something like this happened to my team.”

After crashing and dislocating his shoulder on stage five into Arenberg, Primoz Roglic lost over two minutes to Tadej Pogacar, finding himself in a secondary position for Jumbo-Visma, but climbing up the GC in the following days as the race reached the mountains. He had a crucial role in Jonas Vingegaard's assault of the yellow jersey at the Col du Granon, but has started to suffer from his injuries.

“I think this was an individual decision and that indicates that there are certain things that are not right within the team. I would like to know the real story behind his assignment," Armstrong said. Roglic abandoned the race as Jumbo-Visma DS Frans Maassen described he was "not feeling great and all day suffering and suffering a lot," including on the team bus and after the stages.
