Brandon McNulty enters the final day of
Paris-Nice in the race lead. A very tense day for the
UAE Team Emirates who is close to the biggest win of his career; but he's got to defend himself against the likes of Matteo Jorgenson and Remco Evenepoel in order to achieve that.
"Mix of everything. Excited, nervous, tired... In the end it will be an aggressive day, we'll give everything," McNulty told CyclingPro.net this morning in Nice. Can he keep the yellow jersey all the way to the finish? "It's hard to say I mean it's been a really hard week. I think everyone is suffering I hope but we'll see, it'll be aggressive specially the last two climbs."
The American has had a very good week so far with good luck at the team time-trial, good tactics on stage 6 and a healthy dose of strong enough climbing to be ahead of the competition until stage 8. However he still has one more very difficult day to go and a lead that he's very short over several riders. Most close of all is Jorgenson who is only 4 seconds behind.
"I know he's really motivated and he lives here so it's almost like a home race for him so I expect aggressive racing," he says of his compatriot. But Jorgenson is not the only rider to pay a lot of attention to on this day: "Remco is also right there and we know how he races, it's gonna be tough."
