Warren Barguil targets Giro d'Italia to attempt full Grand Tour stage win set

For the first time in his career, Team Arkéa Samsic's Warren Barguil is set to ride the Giro d'Italia, with his main aim for the race set to be achieving a stage win.

Having already won two stages at the Tour de France in 2017 and two stages of the Vuelta a Espana in 2013, if Barguil could manage to add success at the Giro to his palmares he would join an elite list of riders to have won at each of the three Grand Tours.

Initially tipped as a future Grand Tour winner, Barguil has turned his attention away from the General Classification in more recent seasons and despite three top 10 finishes at Grand Tours to his name, he has not completed a three-week stage race since finishing 14th at the 2020 Tour de France. Having won stages at both Tour de France and Vuelta a Espana in the past, he now has a new goal in sight as he returns to the World Tour.
