Zdenek Stybar is a familiar face to cyclocross, and this winter he has been in action already. After a break, the Czech rider will be back on the dirt later this month as he looks to do a racing block before the road season.
He's raced five events after the finale of the road season, most noticeably a 17th position in his home World Cup of Tabor, showing he has the competitive form to compete for a good position in the discipline. After taking a break from training, he is now building his form back up, and is set for an equipment change on the 1st of January as he moves over to Team BikeExchange - Jayco.
Stybar will return to cyclocross at the Heusden-Zolder Superprestige which will take place in the 27th of December, in the midst of the Christmas racing block. Although not named, it is reported that he is planning to have six races in his schedule, and the World Championships are currently being considered.
The Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl Team rider has the option to race them but will likely evaluate his form before making a decision. In Tabor, he was the second best Czech rider only after Michael Boros, so it is a plausible possibility taking into consideration the country's influence in the discipline.
