Sam Bennett is changing his focus to the World Championships and this week at the Tour de Pologne he's preparing himself for the efforts. He has talked about what he expected from the race in Scotland and how he plans to race alongside Ben Healy.
“Ben can go up the road to see what he can do and I can wait and see what happens in the main bunch,” the Irishman told Cyclingnews. “It’s going to be a very hard race and a very technical course with lots of corners. So we’ll have to take it as it comes."
The Irish team will feature several riders but the duo will be the ones to watch. Bennett has not shown the form he had years ago yet in BORA - hansgrohe so it's hard to see him in the fight for a top result in the hilly circuit, however there aren't climbs that are overly hard and on a good day and the right tactics he might be in contention.
Undoubtedly the team's chances lay on the EF Education-EasyPost rider who's had a breakthrough season and on this type of terrain could thrive. Bennett has finished fourth in the opening sprint stage of the Tour de Pologne where he is currently at and will have another chance today. However he's unlikely to race the Polish event all the way to the end as it's finale is on the eve of the World Championships' Men's Elite race where he'll take part in.
