With Jumbo-Visma opting to use Tirreno-Adriatico as a means to develop the relationship between Wilco Kelderman and Primoz Roglic prior to the Giro d'Italia, the Dutchman is confident the early signs are good.
"I've been in the room with him for about four weeks now and we just click well," Kelderman reveals to In de Leidestrui. "We have the same ideas and are in this stage of life. That already creates a bond anyway. For me it is just important that I get to know Primoz and that he will trust me one hundred percent in the Giro."
In fact one of the big reasons Roglic made his return to action slightly earlier than expected at Tirreno-Adriatico, was due to Jumbo-Visma wishing to see how the duo would fare together and to give both Kelderman and Roglic a chance to get familiarised with each others tactics and styles.
"It's important to know how Primoz rides, what he wants and things like that. So it is very nice that we are already racing together here in the Tirreno," Kelderman agrees. "The time trial on Monday was already good. I expect to be good, although it is difficult to estimate exactly where you stand compared to the rest."
