Today's team time-trial at the
Vuelta a Espana sees all teams go against each other head-to-head in the 24-kilometer course, on the day the race enters Spain. But it wasn't smooth sailing for everyone, as the
Israel - Premier Tech riders were fully blocked on the road by protestors in the middle of their effort.
This doesn't come as a surprise, as protests have been ongoing throughout multiple races in the international calendar, as a result of Israel's actions in the Gaza Strip and West Bank. Israel - Premier Tech is owned by Sylvan Adams who is equally supportive of the country's actions in the state of Palestine, which further increases the hostility towards the team - but unfortunately, towards the riders. At the Giro d'Italia protestors blocked two riders from the breakaway in the finale into Napoli and directly affected the outcome of the race - whilst miraculously being stopped from crashing the riders.
This Wednesday the Israel '8' came face to face with a few protestors with flags and other fabrics blocking the road, having timed their move in a way that the riders could not avoid it - despite the presence of police motorbikes on the scene.
