During time-trials, and TTT's are no exception, riders ride in the discipline-specific bikes which do not provide as much control. Riding in a tight formation is an exercise that requires a lot of attention and skill, and whilst something rarely goes wrong, this did happen today. Out of nowhere, there was an incident with the
Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe team and
Matteo Sobrero crashed at high speed in the middle of his teammates.
The Italian touched wheels with a teammate that had been in front of him and swerved due to the strong wind on course. With his arms in the TT position there was no way to avoid and break in time, and Sobrero crashed at high speed, visibly hitting his head on the ground immediately.
