The transfers is already given as a certain.
Victor Lafay himself has confirmed in an interview with L'Équipe that he will be leaving
Cofidis and joining
AG2R Citroën Team at the end of this season.
This is a transfer that for several months is already well based. French sources have been able to understand that following his immense performances at the Tour de France, where he won stage 2 and was the only rider to keep up with Tadej Pogacar and Jonas Vingegaard's attack on the first day of the day, that several teams entered contacts right away.
Among them was INEOS Grenadiers, but then it was learnt that the British team let go of the plans to sign the Frenchman. Several contenders remained but most likely the list was thinned down by what was a large salary request. Lafay's salary is reported to be of €1.5 million for the upcoming season according to Le Parisien.
No transfer has yet been officially announced, however a deal is virtually certain to have been agreed on. The 27-year old was recently at the Saitama Criterium and now on holidays, most likely the announcement will be postponed for afterwards. After the departure of Greg van Avermaet budget has been freed from the French squad's pockets and Lafay is it's ultimate investment.
