INEOS Grenadiers hold the lead at Tirreno-Adriatico and have several contenders for the overall classification. Inbetween is Tom Pidcock whose goals are uncertain for the race, but is a major candidate to win today's hilltop finish.
“This is definitely an opportunity. We will be looked at, as we have the leader's jersey. I think I have regained my focus after Strade Bianche," Pidcock said this morning ahead of stage 4. Preparing for the spring classics, the final 3.2-kilometer ascent at 6.9% - which will be ridden three times - will be a good test and opportunity to win once more.
Competition will be tough, including both climbers and puncheurs who are close to their best form. “I would like to win a stage here and this is an opportunity, so we are going to try," the Briton assures however.
"The past few days I was able to get into my rhythm quietly. Today's final suits me, but we'll see. I feel good, but you also need your head to win," Pidcock concluded. He sits 49th in the overall classification at the time being, but this is bound to change at the end of the day.
