The cycling market remains as lively as ever with rumors of Remco Evenepoel's possible departure to Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe ever strong.
Despite numerous claims that the deal is more of a fairy tale, according to Gazzetta dello Sport, the Belgian could still end up at the German club next season. Sources close to the negotiation would have stated that the move is "possible", although nothing has been signed yet. So, what is clear is that there are talks between BORA, Remco and his current team Soudal - Quick-Step.
Evenepoel, who turned 24 this year, has two more seasons signed with Patrick Lefevere's team. Obviously he will only leave if the Belgian team's boss decides that it is the best option to continue to evolve or to close a project that last year was very close to disappearing with the so-called merger with Jumbo Visma.
Our CiclismoAlDía colleagues imagine that, if it happens, the financial compensation for the signing would be very high (possibly close to magical figure of €100mil.) and that it would be possible thanks to the landing of Red Bull in the structure. Since his arrival there have been rumors about the possible landing of Wout van Aert and Remco. The Visma rider doesn't seem to be leaving, will the double Olympic champion do it?
A beastly year
Remco Evenepoel is completing what is probably his most complete year after proving in the Tour de France that he is the only viable medium-term alternative to the Pogacar-Vingegaard duopoly. In addition, he won Gold at the Olympics in both the time trial and the line in a historic milestone. There is no doubt that he is a superlative cyclist capable of winning any race. It is normal that BORA wants him at all costs and is willing to pay a millionaire for him. As we say, having a contract, the ball is in Patrick Lefevere's court. He will be the one who will have to decide.
