Primoz Roglic back on the bike as he tries to make it into Vuelta a Espana - "A decision is simply not made yet"

With exactly two weeks to go, Primoz Roglic is still trying to make it to the start of the Vuelta a Espana. The injuries he's endured last month at the Tour de France were costly, however not all is lost as he's returned to the bike and has high hopes.

In conversation with Velonews, team trainer Mathieu Heijboer has said that "he’s recovering, we hope he’s fine for the Vuelta but it’s too early to say... A decision is simply not made yet, we are waiting on the way and speed of Primož’s recovery". This thursday the Slovenian posted a picture on social media hinting at his return to the bike, after taking time off to heal from the injuries suffered in the crash during the fifth day of the Tour de France where he dislocated his shoulder, and raced on with two broken vertebrae that were only diagnosed after the race.

Being one of the best stage-racers in the peloton currently and the three-time defending champion of the Vuelta, understandably there is a lot at stake with his presence, as he is likely to be one of the main figures and contenders for the red jersey if he finds himself at the start in Utrecht.

"The team direction is all depending on the status of Primož. If he’s not there, it will totally change the approach," he pointed out. It will be of extreme importance the presence of the Slovenian towards the team's ambitions, with GC ambitions and stage hunting both as current possibilities.

Currently expected to be at the final Grand Tour of the season are Sepp Kuss who's had a brilliant Tour de France, aswell as several of the riders who missed on the selection for the Tour de France including Mike Teunissen who's shown great form during the Tour de Pologne, Rohan Dennis and also Italian powerhouse Edoardo Affini.
