Nairo Quintana has found his consistency back for this
Tour de France, currently riding inside the Top10 and fighting for a place in the final podium, perhaps Top5.
Team Arkéa Samsic don't have the same level of support as most World Tour teams, however the 32-year remains rock solid in sixth place.
“They have one more long speed point than us. You can see the youth, they don't think about tomorrow. We have to go every pedal stroke thinking how it is done," Quintana said after the 14th stage in the harsh heat about
Tadej Pogacar and
Jonas Vingegaard who went clear from the GC group inside the first kilometer of the Côte de la Croix Neuve.
In Mende, Quintana had a good day as he took time on Adam Yates and Romain Bardet who sit directly ahead of him in the overall classification. He detailed: "I felt very well. Not to go with Pogacar and Vingegaard, but I knew how to regulate well, at a good pace and arrive together with Thomas and Gaudu".
As for the current race leader, who was the only rider to finish ahead of the Colombian in the Col du Granon, he said: “Three years ago he made a great selection working for Roglic, last year he was already runner-up here. Unlike Pogacar, Vingegaard has a very powerful team, which supports and covers him at all times," he concluded, pointing out what he sees is the current differences between the two.
