No surgery but four weeks in a cast for Chris Froome following Tirreno-Adriatico

Chris Froome's run of bad luck continued at Tirreno-Adriatico as the Grand Tour legend crashed hard, fracturing his scaphoid and eventually leaving the race early.

According to reports by GCN however, there is some positive news for the 38-year-old Brit to cling to as his injury is better than first feared and surgery will not be required. Froome had initially been booked in to go under the knife before the rider’s medical experts decided against the procedure.

Although surgery has been avoided, Froome will be fitted with a cast for the next four weeks and according to the report he has already been seen back out riding on his bike in Monaco and Nice wearing the cast that was fitted.

It's still unclear what the seven-time Grand Tour winner's calendar will look like in 2024 with Israel - Premier Tech keeping quiet although GCN report Froome will be back on March 30th at Campeonato Vasco Navarro de Montaña, formerly known as Gran Premio Miguel Induráin.
