The Tour de France has entered the deep Alps this weekend and the tide has turned in favour of Jonas Vingegaard, who has balanced the scale back into his favour, winning only one second in two days but stopping the run of gains of Tadej Pogacar. Jumbo-Visma are satisfied with the results.
“Still only ten seconds: that's pretty exciting in the car. Of course it should have been ten minutes for me, but for the spectators it is a great fight. On the other hand: we would rather be ten seconds ahead than behind," team DS Grischa Niermann told Wielerflits. Jumbo-Visma pushed the pace from far on both stages to try and burn through the Slovenian's explosivity, and the tactic may have worked.
On stage 15 to Saint-Gervais Mont-Blanc the two arrived at the finish line together with no differences created. This wasn't due to a lack of trying however, Tadej Pogacar attacked once again, and UAE had the numbers in the finale to try and use tactics in their favour. However Vingegaard managed to respond to all attacks, ultimately not allowing UAE from benefiting from that.

“The final climb was good for Pogacar on paper, with a flatter section in the last mile and a half and then a steep section in the last 400 metres. We should be happy that Jonas was able to keep the wheel. Adam Yates and Marc Soler were sent to the front for a reason: if Pogacar had dropped him, they would certainly accelerate," Niermann believes.
