Matej Mohoric was a standout performer at last year's
Tour de France, being active in the long and flat stages of the race, having taken two solo wins from breakaways. This year he will be having the same objectives, despite having GC ambitions within
Bahrain - Victorious.
With Jack Haig and Damiano Caruso in the lineup Mohoric he will at some point have the responsibilities to work, but like Dylan Teuns, he will have a very loose role throughout the race. "My goal in this year's Tour is to try and win a stage again. My favourite stage will be stage 5 with the finish at the Arenberg forest. I was the first rider to enter it at Paris Roubaix, so my dream is to be the first there again in July," he pointed out.
Stage five will see the riders ride through almost 20 kilometers of cobbled sectors in northern France, a short but explosive day that is set to be chaotic and could quite possibly see the yellow jersey change hands. Mohoric has hinted that he will have the freedom to attack the stage, something which several classics riders can not say.
"I feel confident. I've worked as hard as I ever did to be ready for the season's biggest race. If I can't do it there, I hope to get a stage win elsewhere from the breakaway. My teammates are also ready; together, we will try and make an even better race than last year," he concluded.
