Lance Armstrong has spoken as he does every day about the last stage of the Tour de France on his YouTube channel of The Move and, how could it be otherwise, on this occasion he tried to explain what happened to Tadej Pogacar on the Col de la Loze and why he went down and lost all his chances of winning the Grande Boucle 2023.
The American is not sure what happened to the Slovenian, although he believes that he must not have had a good night before after losing almost 2 minutes to Jonas Vingegaard in the time trial. So, he does not know if what happened to him was a mental collapse or simply that he was left without strength by the heat or by the hard spring he raced and ended up with a broken wrist.
"He didn't have a terrible performance in the time trial, he finished second in the time trial and beat Wout van Aert, but it had to be very hard for him to go to bed knowing he had lost 2 minutes to his rival and coming back to the queen stage," he said. "The truth is I don't know what happened to him, I don't know if it's morale, if it's the way he rode his spring campaign and that he broke his wrist or if it's just that this Tour has been too much for him. You saw him, he didn't look good on the bike, the heat could also have played a part."
