Keegan Swenson wins Unbound Gravel 200 ahead of Petr Vakoc and Lachlan Morton

Last year's Unbound gravel runner-up Keegan Swenson came on top this time around. The American rider beat Petr Vakoc and Lachlan Morton in a sprint of seven.

“It was about the same as last year. Yeah, it was a bit of a tricky finish,” Swenson told Cyclingnews at the finish line. “Everyone seemed like they were going pretty well. There were attacks in the last few miles. The finish chute was quite hectic, so I figured I would go a little bit long, and hopefully, block a bit. It worked out.”

A group of eleven from which the future winner was recruited began to form on the first pass of Texaco Hill some 41 miles after start. Later in the race, John Kariuki, Carter Anderson and Adam Roberge were dropped. The last to leave the party was Paul Voss who couldn't keep up with more than 80 miles to go.

The group of seven now featured Swenson, Vakoc, Morton, Ian Boswell, Peter Stetina, Laurens Ten Dam and Russell Finsterwald. In the remainder of the race some attacks took place, especially Stetina was active, but nobody was able to open a significant gap and so the race came to a sprint after 300 kilometers in which Swenson was the strongest.
