The twelfth stage in the Vuelta a España was a real walking stage, which ultimately suited Juan Sebastián Molano. For classification leader Sepp Kuss, this meant that there was no problem and he could slowly but surely prepare for Friday's stage, which heads towards the legendary Col du Tourmalet.
During the stage to Zaragoza we saw both Jonas Vingegaard and Primoz Roglic occasionally act as water carriers at the service of Kuss, who looks back on this with a smile in the flash interview. "That's great, of course. But to be honest: Jonas and Primoz have already given me a lot of advice. Moreover, I can draw a lot of confidence from them. So it's extra nice to see that they believe in me. But the most important thing is that we are always there for each other."
At the intermediate sprint, Roglic actually managed to reduce his deficit to Remco Evenepoel by four seconds, as he finished second in the intermediate sprint behind sprint gun Kaden Groves.
According to Kuss, it was a good idea that his Slovenian teammate got involved in the intermediate sprint violence. "It's always useful to try. Especially if you are already riding in the front, it does not require a lot of energy. It's good that he went for it, but in tomorrow's stage there will normally be much bigger differences," he looks ahead to the monster stage.
