Zdenek Stybar has been with QuickStep-AlphaVinyl for the last 12 years, but now he is finally moving to BikeExchange-Jayco next season. Although the 37-year-old rider does not know how much time he has left in his career, he certainly has big ambitions.
In a conversation with Het Laatste Nieuws, he said. "Never stop dreaming. It may not sound realistic to you, but I would still really like to win a monument.” He is a former
cyclocross world champion and has tasted victory in the Paris-Roubaix podium, Omloop Het Nieuwsblad, Strade Bianche, and E3 Harelbeke.
He continues, "A stage in the Giro would also be nice, then I will have won a stage in every major tour. And I want to return to the Tour one more time. I had a very bad season, but now I feel good again. Going to a new team gives a lot of motivation. I signed for one year, but maybe I want to continue for years. It is exactly as if time has turned back seven years. It's nice to make plans again."
Not only on the road, but he also plans to perform better in cyclocross next season. "Next year, I'm definitely going to do more crosses. Then the World Championships will be held in Tabor. If I start training specifically next winter, I should still perform reasonably well,” concluded the Czech rider.
