The routes of the 2023
Giro d'Italia and
Tour de France have been revealed! There is no more mystery in relation to what the riders will face in the two most important stage-races of the season. Which one should
Remco Evenepoel ride, in your opinion?
The Belgian had hinted over the year that a return to the Giro would be the most likely, in order to slowly build up towards the Tour de France, and in order to get more experience before targeting it. It would also be necessary to have a very strong climbing team to match the likes of UAE Team Emirates and Jumbo-Visma. The Giro route features almost 70 kilometers of individual time-trials, but simultaneously it features several high-mountain days and a very heavy final week, containing high altitude and more unpredictable weather.
On the other side is the Tour de France. Having won the World Championships, Evenepoel will have the pleasure of riding with the rainbow jersey throughout almost the entire season. The Tour features less high-altitude days and less high mountains in general, however also features only 22 kilometers of time-trialing - which are not flat. However it may be his only opportunity to ride the Tour with the rainbow jersey, something which the sponsors at
Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl Team would also surely be supportive of.
In this poll the question is exclusively whether Evenepoel should choose the Giro d'Italia or Tour de France. The Vuelta a Espana could be combined with both.
