Henok Mulubrhan sees greater purpose in his racing: "I can live here as an African for cycling"

Henok Mulubrhan makes a debut in the Giro d'Italia this year. The 23-year old Eritrean of Green Project-Bardiani CSF Faizanè and rides a grand tour for the first time. WielerFlits recently met the reigning champion of Africa.

The plan was to turn professional at Qhubeka NextHash in 2022, if the team didn't cease to exist. Mulubrhan therefore joined Bike Aid, where he was snatched away by Bardiani after only four months. Since April 2022, Mulubrhan is therefore a pro.

Looking at his results, that is not surprising. In 2020 Mulubrhan already won a stage in the Tour of Rwanda and in 2022 he was fifth in the final classification.

Henok Mulubrhan has already won Tour du Rwanda and African Continental Championship in February. Despite successful campaign in Africa, Mulubrhan is still looking for a breakthrough result on European soil in 2023. “But racing in Europe is going very well so far and it is also nice that I can live here as an African for cycling,” he tells WielerFlits.
