Geraint Thomas has had an incredible return to his best form last year, and he's carried it into 2023. After almost coming to a maiden Giro d'Italia victory, he now sets his sights on the
Vuelta a Espana where he hopes to be able to take one more Grand Tour victory for his palmarès.
The Welshman himself admitted that in his Watts Occuring podcast, the overall classification will be his goal. He will however have to face Primoz Roglic once again, in terrain that should likely suit the Slovenian better. Remco Evenepoel has not yet decided on his participation there, whilst other favourites remain largely unknown.
Despite being a veteran and full-time in the peloton since 2007, Thomas only rode the Vuelta once in his career and that was back in 2015, before he carried real ambitions to win a Grand Tour. 3 years later he won the Tour de France, and he has since put on enough strong performances to convince that he is still within a very real shot of winning a second Grand Tour.
