EF Education-EasyPost are currently fighting for their survival at World Tour level, and one of their riders
Simon Carr has mentioned the team's approach to training in a recent interview.
Yeah, my upbringing – taking aspects from two national cultures – fits in well with the team," Carr told CyclingWeekly. The Briton has had his development and start in cycling over in France, however shares both languages and cultures. He was brought to the American team over from NIPPO who disbanded in late 2021, and has since became a domestique for the team's climbers, occasionally having his own opportunities.
He's talked about how the team has a more free approach to their riders, allowing riders to have their own trainers and adopting a less strict program. "They have riders of so many different nationalities that they do allow a bit of individuality and personality, doing stuff your own way to a certain extent. From the outside, other teams appear more formatted," he revealed. Having riders from 15 different countries, with different bases and pasts proved to be a challenge for the team.
Carr has finished the Settimana Coppi e Bartali in fourth place this year, aswell as ninth at La Route d'Occitanie last season. Occasional glimpses of talent have put him on the map, as he will be an important piece for the team's fight in the second half of the season.
