Despite rare display of difficulty, Tadej Pogacar shrugs off explosive day - “Tomorrow will be a more difficult stage"

Tadej Pogacar finished the fourth stage of the Tour de France safely in the peloton, however little signs came from the day that surprised some, as the Slovenian wasn't able to keep up with the vicious acceleration from Jumbo-Visma on the Côte du Cap Blanc-Nez.

Despite this, the white jersey did not comment on the day after the finish and stressed how tomorrow is the true focus: “Tomorrow will be a more difficult stage. I look forward to a big day, with no difficulties or crashes for us. We will all have great fun – especially the people watching at home from the couch," he said.

Whilst Jumbo-Visma attacked the final climb, Pogacar was unable to follow and was distanced. Although the GC riders were reeled in, it was not a frequent position from the defending Tour de France champion. Positioning was likely the culprit, however adding to his crash a few days ago in Denmark, small questions may be put in his mind, specially ahead of a crucial day in the race.

Without Matteo Trentin it won't be such an easy task, tomorrow's stage into Arenberg will be a crucial test for both Pogacar and the whole of UAE Team Emirates as they will be facing a much strong Jumbo-Visma team in the cobblestones.
