One factor that could ease the deal is the presence of Slovenian Milan Eržen in the team’s management, a circumstance that would smooth talks between both parties. However, the report notes that, for now, no agreement has been finalized.
According to MARCA, Primoz Roglic is not only looking for a contract to keep racing, but also for a project where he can again assume a leading role.
Remco Evenepoel’s arrival at Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe significantly reduces his chances of leading the team at the Grand Tours, a key reason why the Slovenian is set to seek a new destination for 2027.

A leader for Bahrain Victorious
If the signing goes through, Bahrain Victorious would add a rider with vast Grand Tour experience and address one of their main weaknesses: the lack of an established Tour de France general classification contender.
There is, however, uncertainty over Roglič’s competitive level at 37. In 2024 he won another Vuelta a España, proving he remained one of the world’s premier stage racers. The next two seasons, though, were more turbulent.
In 2025 he abandoned the Giro d’Italia and finished eighth at the Tour de France, while in 2026 he focused his entire build-up on targeting only the Vuelta a España as his main goal of the year.
Roglic’s departure looks increasingly likely. In fact, Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe boss Ralph Denk recently confirmed to Ciclo21 that the Slovenian will continue for one more season as a pro, albeit outside the German setup.
With several teams monitoring his situation, Bahrain Victorious now emerges as one of the strongest candidates to land a rider aiming to close out his career with a final attempt at winning the Tour de France.
